Open your document in Illustrator and select the shape you want to convert to a stroke.
Open your document in Illustrator and select the shape you want to convert to a stroke. In the “Appearance” panel, click on the “Add New Stroke” icon. This will add a new stroke layer underneath your shape. To modify the width of the stroke, go to the “Stroke” panel and enter in the desired width. To change the color of the stroke, go to the “Swatches” panel and select a new color.
If you have a shape that you want to turn into a stroke, there’s an easy way to do it in Illustrator. Just go to the “Object” menu and select “Expand.” This will turn your shape into a stroke that you can then edit using the pen tool or other strokes options.
In the “Expand” dialogue box, select the “Stroke” option and click “OK.”

Next, change the “Width” to whatever you want your stroke thickness to be. Finally, click the “Dashed Line” button and enter whatever dash and gap values you want. Your shape should now be converted to a stroke!
