Open a new document in Illustrator.

Open a new document in Illustrator. Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to draw a circle. Go toObject > Path > split into Grid. Set the number of horizontal and vertical dividing lines to 2. Expand the object (Object > Expand). Use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to select one of the quadrants and delete it. With the Selection Tool (V), move the bottom left and top right anchor points inward until you’ve achieved the desired shape. Fill with color, and add a stroke if desired.

Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to draw a half circle.

Open Adobe Illustrator. Draw a half circle by selecting the Ellipse Tool (L). Place your cursor at the top of the workspace. Drag down and to the left to create a half circle. Fill it with any color by going to Window > Color. Choose black from the Swatches panel or use the Eyedropper Tool (I) to sample an existing color.

Select the half circle and go to Edit > Edit Colors > Recolor Artwork.

This will bring up the recoloring options window. Select the ” monochromatic ” option at the top, and then move the cursor around inside the circle until you find a color you like. You can also experiment with the hue, saturation, and brightness options to get different colors. When you’re happy with the way it looks, click “OK” to apply the changes.

With the Selection tool still active, click on the horizontal center point of the circle while holding down the Shift key so that you constrain its proportions, then drag it down to the bottom of the artboard.

Save your document.

Once you have your document set up the way you want it, go ahead and save your work. Make sure to name it something you’ll remember and save it in a place you can easily find it later. I like to keep all my projects organized in folders on my computer.
